Boris Despodov

Boris Despodov graduated from Sofia Fine Art Academy in 1997. He is an illustrator, graphic designer, visual artist, and filmmaker. He started his career as a painter and illustrator at a young age and presented his work in more than 35 collective exhibitions and five exhibitions uniquely dedicated to his work. Then he progressively turned to animation and production design to make his way into film directing. He started with filmmaking two decades ago, and his films have received recognition in some of the world’s most celebrated film festivals. The latest documentary co-production, ‘And Towards Happy Alleys’ by Indian film director Sreemoyee Singh, premiered in the 73rd Berlinale’s Panorama section in 2023. He is a member of the Documentary Association of Europe, the EAVE producers’ network, and the Bulgarian Film Academy.
